After an extended period of development, we are pleased to announce the completion of our Rover K-Series Supercharger kit. Our test vehicle completed its final mapping session on the dyno with Dave Walker at Emerald yesterday and achieved better than expected power and all elements operated perfectly.
On the rollers the low-compression VVC-based engine package with our own design Rotrex charger system and chargecooler achieved 268bhp (@ 7429 rpm) and 196lb/ft of torque (@ 6396 rpm). We are also happy to report that we had boost to spare and the engine could be restricted to 7000rpm where it would achieve a healthy 260bhp.
The story of the development is a lengthy one! Put simply – after Turbo Technics had discontinued their TT190/215/230 Supersport SC kits we were approached by several customers running cars with these kits and asked to refurbish them. On several occasions this job was completed by TT, but with the caveat that there would no longer be sufficient parts stock to continue refurbishing the chargers into the future. Cue our interest in the K-Series Supercharger concept.
After our success with the Rotrex chargers as featured in the KomoTec Turbodrive kits (Toyota 2ZZ engine) which we have supplied for the last 4 years we decided that a Rotrex unit would be the best placed for the job as there is restricted belt space for any kind of roots-type superchargers in the Elise and Exige engine bay. With an excellent history of performance K-Series builds and durability behind us (some have covered over 60,000 miles now) and some encouraging words from our friend Dave Walker at Emerald, we put into place a development plan. After a few unscheduled tweaks to that plan and a little innovation we found we could create not only a brand new SC kit for the K, but also a super-efficient new chargecooler system and SC upgrade kit for those with the existing failing TT kits.
We think this is the perfect durable performance upgrade for your K-Series Elise, Exige or 340R. It will retain the cars all-important handling dynamics and light weight. Stresses through the rear subframe will remain in the directions nature (or rather Lotus) intended – further retaining the handling and durability aspects of the chassis. It will also help retain the original engine type which will in-turn help future resale value and keep insurance costs sensible.
Through popular demand, we are also working on a conversion kit to allow the Honda & Duretec powered Elise and Exige to return to a K-Series setup using our supercharger kit. More details about this in early 2012.
Production of our final designs has been started and final pricing will be released very shortly.
Over time we have noticed not only the rapid deterioration of the original factory-fitted towing eyes, but also the poor substitutes that seem to find their way onto cars as a replacement! You only want to replace your front towing eye assembly once and with something that far exceeds the requirements for the job. We are pleased to announce our ‘Monster’ Front Towing Eye Assembly (what other name could we use?!?).
Features on our new Elise 111R race car and compatible with all Elise S2 models and Elise/Exige from 2004 onwards.
Constructed from over-sized stainless steel tube and 3.5mm thick spreader plates, powder coated in hard-black (body) and red (tow-eye). Supplied with all fixings required.

The newest addition to our Signature exhaust range is the 4-1 Sports Manifold. Designed as a simple replacement for the original item and re-using the original heat-shielding, the Signature BB is aimed at those looking to further reduce back-pressure in their forced induction system. It’s careful design means that no modification to the subframe, mounting points or other exhaust components is required.
During performance testing, we found significant improvements in torque between 3800rpm and 6000rpm and peak power increases around 8300rpm by as much as 15bhp when used with our Signature Sports Catalyst.
Compatible with OE Catalytic convertor or Signature Sports catalyst.

Turbo Technics are no longer able to refurbish existing TT superchargers as provided with their TT190, TT215 and TT230 kits for the Rover K-Series engine.
After purchasing the remaining stock of peripheral components for the TT kits from Turbo Technics, we have made some significant modifications to the kit and in the next few months we will be launching our new Rotrex-Based Supercharger kit for the K-Series Elise, Exige and 340R.
Our upcoming SC kit has been delayed due to a design change to allow the our supercharger to be integrated with existing Turbo Technics K-Series installations in the event that the TT chargers should fail.

During the course of 2010, we worked with engine management guru Dave Walker and Emerald to develop several plug-and-play solutions for Lotus-specific applications. We are now pleased to announce the first of several very significant developments for Toyota engined Elise 111R, Exige S2 and Supercharged Cup 240 – all featuring the cable throttle assembly.
Dave’s words on this first development on the 2ZZ engine….![]()
“This is an engine that we have been meaning to get around to for some time, but only with the new Emerald K6 ECU has a conversion really been practical. By teaming up with Hangar 111
we have had the benefit of their experiences in converted supercharged engines, albeit running a re-mapped stock ECU.
After running up their supercharged demo car on our rolling road we installed a new K6 with an adapter harness and set about re-mapping. We spent some time on the cam switching and cam timing maps to see if the stock ECU settings could be improved upon.
Our experiences with the Rover VVC engine led us to believe that the standard Lotus settings would not be improved upon. Without giving too much away at this stage we did find some fairly spectacular gains over the re-mapped stock ECU on this supercharged engine: 30 bhp at one point in the rev range!
Hangar 111 will be offering conversions for cable throttle cars using the triple map K6 ECU fitted via an adapter harness that also contains some hardware to keep the AC unit fully functioning and a CAN bus link in the K6 will power the standard dash.”
The Emerald K6 represents excellent value-for-money with easy -to-use software and a wealth of knowledge to support the product. The fact that in this guise it is fully compatible with the original dash and simply plugs in via an adapter means instant cost-savings for the tuner.

We have developed an interface for the Elise S2 that allows plug and play connection of the Emerald K6 ECU into the original Elise S2 wiring Loom without cutting a single wire!
The interface is desgined to make installation very simple and take just a matter of minutes versus the back-breaking hours that you would normally spend cutting and splicing wires to install the Emerald in the Elise S2.
You can find the interface lead in our online store.
